Front Suspension Support

SumoSprings helper springs are great for RVs or motor homes that have slide-outs. Slide-out rooms and other heavy front loads can cause front-end sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the front axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the motor home's weight. And because there is less weight on your rear axle, your rear tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

SumoSprings Rebel installed showing separation of 2-piece springs

The innovative 2-piece design of these Rebel springs allows for unlimited suspension travel. This means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you're unloaded or off-roading, which makes your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Each spring has 2 pieces. One piece attaches to the frame of your vehicle. And the other piece attaches to the axle. The pieces come together to provide support when you are carrying a heavy front load. When you're unloaded, they separate so that they don't restrict the movement of your suspension. The closed-cell urethane springs also act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

SumoSprings compressing under load

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy front load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your rear tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

The work great! Was going to go with the Air-Ride air bags in the front but folks had noted that the bags are strained when the leveling pulls the front wheels up to the point of coming off the ground. Glad we went with these. The person I put this on for is Handicap (or Handicapable as she says!) and these do not require air or making sure the pressure(s) are correct and holding.
It was a pain in the butttt get the original jounce bumper off the drivers side, but we muscled through it!! Thanks, Amy, for your help in ordering!! v

A friend and I installed these, if was not difficult to figure out and was a big savings. My wife noticed the difference without knowing it. On a trip to a frequent location she would complain the entire trip after installation on the same trip she did not complain at all. Success!

by:

If you are looking at these, betting you have a class A that you are attempting to get the smoothest ride out of. We installed these on a V8 F53 24k chassis - Georgetown G7 for the same reasons. Most forums and reviews speak of multiple components being installed all at once, with varying results on ride quality. Being an aircraft mechanic of 20yrs, I elected to install one component at a time before throwing the store at it. Started with the Koni Evo shocks. Really helped smooth the ride and lessen the low speed rolls. So much, we almost stopped there. After reading many rv’ers speak to front and rear Sumos being too stiff of a ride, I elected to only install fronts. The fronts are two piece bags unlike the rear, which means the only dampen on compression, not extension/compression at same time. My theory was correct! For us, this is the perfect combination at minimal cost! I highly suggest you start with this setup prior to buying the store!

2018 Ford F-53

I really like the improved ride that these SumoSprings made in the ride of my motorhome. I changed out the old style Sumos for these two piece Sumos and would definitely do it again. It doesn't necessarily take away the bumps but it makes them smoother or not as hard of a bump. Also James was very helpful and easy to work with while placing my order and kept me informed on the status of my order.

I have had the two piece SumoSprings for one year and we still enjoy the improvement that they have made in our ride and still recommend them to anyone looking to improve their ride.

by:

These springs definitely helped the stability of our motorhome. eTrailer is THE place to go with RV issues/repairs. We have dealt with them for years and have no regrets. Bob is our "go to" guy. He, as well as all of eTrailer's other employees, are top-notch!

Ford

Installed front first and then took a trip on a curvy mountain road. I found they made a significant change in the ride and the sway. Very good update to a 2019 Ford F53 25000 chasis.

by:

Excellent service and great product, th anks!

Product came in within 3 days or so. Bought SUMO SPRINGS and a steering stabilizer for my 38’ Gas Motorhome and they work wonders. Highly recommed getting these items. . Feels like a different RV. 3rd time or so that I have bought from these guys, always came thru. Happy customer. And I installed front/back sumo springs and stabilizer by myself in 2hrs.

by:

I installed the sumo springs. I followed the directions that came in the box and the video on the web site were very helpful. It took me about 2 hours to install. I am hoping that these springs will help take some of the rough ride out of our motor home as the website and many other users have claimed. I am looking forward to testing them out.

Great product easy to install

Great

by:

Sumo springs arrived today. Very good quality product, straight forward installation took about an hour and a half to install on 2018 Bounder 35p.Have pictures of stock bump stop and new springs, no comparison, installed springs and have pictures with jacks up and jacks down. Only reason I didn’t give them a five star rating is I haven’t driven the motor home yet.

by:

Not as straight forward as advertised. I have no access to nuts because of inclosed frame . And the nuts were not welded. I had to stick my finger through a small hole and try to center the nut and thread the bolt through. Other than that it was pretty straightforward.

by:
Ford

I can’t believe how much these have helped the sway and control of the motor home. These are a must for the Ford F53 chassis.

I can’t be more happier. Sumo Springs are the best.

Dodge Challenger

Super easy install. Took maybe 20-25 minutes. I installed these on a 2022 Thor Challenger 37FH. I had read reviews about people complaining about the brake line bracket in the way. Really not a big deal, cut it off with a rotary tool, grind smooth and paint for rust protection. Road test is next.

by:
2012 Tiffin Allegro Motorhome

Excellent product but the lower mounting bracket required some welding to adapt and fit to my 2012 Tiffin Allegro (F-53 chassis). I appreciate the fast service and quality product. Just required some modification to fit despite supposedly made for that chassis. Worked out fine in the end after mods.

Ford

Excellent product. I have a 2018 Thor motor home on the Ford chassis. After purchasing it and driving it 100 miles home in sustained 40 mile mph winds, I was starting to regret buying it. Even without wind, it was a handful to drive. I purchased the sumo spring for the front and rear. The change it the handling was way better then I expected. Even in high winds. Nothing will stop all the effects of the wind on a motor home, but I can now drive it 70 mph with confidence. The biggest change was with the side to side rocking. Driving on uneven lanes and on two lane roads with out shoulders is no longer a problem. I installed them myself without removing the tires. You have to use a right angle drill. It took me 5 hours to do it, but I’m 60 years old and slow. I plan on doing other improvements like steering stabilizer and track bar. Adding the sumo spring is the best thing anyone can do to improve handling. I actually enjoy driving my motor home now.

It worked as expected. Made motor home safer and less stressful to drive.

They are vary high quailty with powder coated bracket and good quailty hardware.

by:

Got delivery in a timely manner. All items were as advertised and installation hardware was complete.
The Sumo Springs and heavy duty sway bars made a SIGNIFICANT difference in the ride and handling.
Would have no problem ordering from this company again. They were also very helpful and patient on the phone.

Sway bars and springs are still working great. They are a necessity for my Ford F-53 chassis.

2021 Tiffin Open Road Allegro Motorhome

Purchased the SumoSprings Rebel Helper Springs for my 2021 Tiffin Open Road Allegro. Installation was not difficult. The ride quality has improved. Previous jarring rough pavement bounces are substantially reduced.

by:

Not nearly as good as the old 1 piece front SUMO SPRINGS. Two piece does not control front rock &roll, nor lean on curves; lost 50% of the control I had w/ the one piece.

by:

One year ago I installed Sumo Springs front and rear on my class A motorhome. This upgrade is the best suspension add on for improved sway control and overall handling. etrailer helped me make the proper choice based on overall vehicle weight and specific chassis. Fast shipping and fair pricing.

by:

Easy to install, looks great. The drive definitely improved

by:

I had the both the front and rear sumo Springs installed on my 2016 Newmar Canyon Star, by the crew at Etrailer.
The improvement in the handling was noticeable the minute I hit the road. The most noticeable effect was the reduction in the top heavy sway when cornering.
It also seems to have reduced the effect of passing semi's .
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has a Ford F53 chassis on their motorhome.

by:

One year now, we love our SumoSprings, they helped with the front end dive when applying the brakes & with wind sway. Etrailer was easy to use & the part was shipped on time.

by:

Works well for the job I do.

I looked up your 2016 Tiffin Allegro 31SA on a Ford F-53 chassis and it weighs in at 24k so the correct Sumo Springs would be part # SSF-173-40-2 for the front and part # SSR-187-54-1 for the rear.

I checked with Roadmaster and there are only rear anti-sway bars offered for a 2022 Coachman Encore. • Recommended Helper Spring Product for Class A Motorhome on 2018 Ford F-53 Chassis
I'd recommend the SumoSpring product over the Timbren, because of the ride quality. The rubber used in the Timbren springs is pretty stiff. The product works very well in that it offers plenty of support but you will experience a fairly harsh ride once the suspension gets compressed. The SumoSprings are constructed of a microcellular urethane, and have a bit more give to them which will yield a more comfortable ride. The SumoSprings will also reduce sway and body roll during turns. I'd...
